Paris Saint-Germain climbed to second after smashing Angers 6-1, and Alessandro Florenzi scored his first goal for the French champions.
In their sixth straight Ligue 1 season, Angers didn’t beat PSG in 45 years and their best shot of the night went to Stephane Bahoken, who was going wide from near range when he really could have scored.
That was as good for the visitors as the victory for PSG was never in doubt. A marvelous dipping volley from the corner of the penalty box, Florenzi’s early strike set the stage for the hosts.
As Angers developed into the match PSG’s second arrived with Kylian Mbappe’s excellent change of pace helping the Frenchman to dash through two defenders and bring it back to Neymar, whose left-foot shot thundered through the underside of the bar for the first time.
Soon after the restart, Neymar jumped on a loose ball to make it 3-0, but Ismael Traore’s towering header at the far post pulled one back.
PSG punished them on the break, with Julian Draxler completing a brutal counter-attack, when the amazing Ait Nouri may have narrowed the gap to a single goal.
Replacement Idrissa Gueye added a deflected fifth shortly after coming off the bench, and Mbappe put the icing on the cake with a casually taken sixth.
With the Rennes League leaders playing on Sunday, PSG is raising up to second, at least until Saturday.
