Fabrizio Romano predicts the future for Vinicius Junior. Vinicius Junior has no immediate ambitions to leave Real Madrid, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
After Los Blancos’ 1-0 loss to Valencia in La Liga on Sunday (May 21), rumors about Vinicius leaving the Santiago Bernabeu surfaced. In the last seconds of the second half, the Brazilian winger was dismissed after a fight with Los Che midfielder Hugo Duro.
During the game at the Mestalla, Vinicius was repeatedly the target of racial slurs from the audience. In the second half, he made an effort to draw the referee’s attention to one particular fan, according to BBC. The racial chanting from stadium patrons also caused a brief interruption in play.
Sadly, the instances were nothing new; throughout this season, the forward has frequently been the focus of racial chants. After the game, there were rumors that his future at Real Madrid was also in doubt. Romano, on the other hand, denied those rumors, tweeting: “Understand that despite recent rumors, Vinicius Junior is not considering leaving Real Madrid. Those close to Vini believe that all he wants is to stay and fight racism in Spain. No other option.”
Romano said that Vinicius and Los Blancos have already reached an agreement on the conditions of a new contract: “Additionally, a new long-term contract was previously signed months earlier.”
The Brazilian had trouble making an impact for Real Madrid against Valencia before his departure. He only completed 18 of his 28 passes, misplaced the ball a staggering 25 times, and blew a good opportunity.
Vinicius, though, has been his team’s most reliable performer this season, scoring 23 goals and dishing out 21 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.
Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid criticizes La Liga after the Mestalla incident, saying that racism is “normal in La Liga.”
As was already established, Vinicius Junior has experienced racist shouts this season on several occasions, including Sunday.
The Brazilian has brought up the matter numerous times during this La Liga season, but nothing has changed. Even this year, they reached their zenith when a mannequin bearing Vinicius’ name and jersey number was hanging from a bridge near Real Madrid’s practice facility.
After what happened at the Mestalla, Vinicius criticized La Liga and Spain for their racial attitudes. After his group’s defeat to Valencia, he tweeted (as translated by The Guardian): “It wasn’t the first time, second time, or third time. In La Liga, racism is commonplace. The federation, the rivals, and the competition all view it as normal and even promote it. Racists now control the championship that formerly belonged to Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Ronaldo (Nazario).”
The Real Madrid winger added: “A wonderful country that I was welcomed into and that I adore, but that accepted to project an image of racism to the rest of the world. I’m sorry to those Spanish people who disagree, but Brazil now views Spain as a racist nation. Even though it is far from here, I am a strong person, and I will fight the bigots until the last end.”
Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Los Blancos, defended Vinicius while criticizing Valencia supporters. Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Rio Ferdinand, and former teammate Ronaldo Nazario have all offered their support to the Brazilian.
