North East United FC broke their losing streak in the current season of the Indian Super League (ISL-2021) on Friday. NorthEast defeated East Bengal 2-0 in the league football match played at Fatorda, and this is noted to be their second win of the season. Both goals were scored in the second half from NorthEast United. For them, these goals were scored by VP Suhair in the 60th minute and Patrick Flottmann in the 68th minute.
This is the second win for NorthEast’s team, which has lost the last two matches, that has moved them to seventh place. The NorthEast club has seven points in seven matches, while East Bengal is still waiting for their first victory. It has suffered a fourth defeat and has only three points from 7 matches.
East Bengal head coach Manolo Diaz said after the defeat that his team’s players are performing well but their efforts are not being successful. The Red and Gold Brigade sit at the bottom of the standings and are yet to register a win in seven matches. Diaz said in the virtual press conference: “It is a difficult situation. But after NorthEast United’s first goal we played well. We had very good opportunities. In the ISL, only 11 players can play every match and the eleven that start are my choices.”
He added: “The players are doing their best but the performance is what it is. We have a big problem to win three points and we need to improve. The squad is doing their best but it’s not enough. The level we have is what we have.”
