Jose Mourinho hints at returning to Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho, the manager of AS Roma, appears to have given Real Madrid another chance.
This Wednesday, May 31, Mourinho will lead Roma into their second consecutive European championship game. The Portuguese coach’s team, I Lupi, advanced to the Europa League final against Sevilla after winning the Europa Conference League the previous year.
The former Real Madrid manager, though, was questioned regarding a future return to the Santiago Bernabeu. The team’s failures in La Liga and the Champions League raise concerns about Carlo Ancelotti’s future. In response, Mourinho said (via Madrid Xtra): “I adore Madrid, and I had a wonderful time there.”
From 2010 to 2013, Jose Mourinho played with Los Blancos for three seasons and had great success in the Spanish capital. Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey and La Liga under his leadership.
However, the team’s relationship with the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager deteriorated over time. Ultimately, it caused him to leave, but Los Merengues supporters still admire him.
The final year of Mourinho’s deal with Roma has passed. He has, however, consistently made it seem possible that he might leave the Stadio Olimpico before the term of his contract expires.
Following his team’s defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League, Ancelotti’s future is in doubt. They finished the La Liga season 11 points behind league champion Barcelona after being soundly defeated 5-1 on aggregate in the playoffs.
Jose Mourinho, the former manager of Real Madrid, identifies the one team he dislikes:
Throughout his managerial career, Jose Mourinho has coached in England, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, becoming a journeyman. He has held managerial positions with teams including FC Porto, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.
Tottenham Hotspur is the only former team for which Mourinho has no sentiments. According to talkSPORT, he said: “The one club in my career where I don’t still have a strong emotional connection is Tottenham, and I hope the Tottenham fans don’t take this the wrong way.”
Mourinho’s complaints date from the start of the COVID outbreak. The Portuguese manager, who had led Spurs to the 2021 Carabao Cup final, was fired only days ahead of the match against Manchester City.
He added: “Probably because Mr. Levy didn’t let me win a final and win a trophy, but it’s the only one,” the player said. “Probably because the stadium was empty in COVID times.”
Many saw Mourinho’s arrival at Tottenham as a risky move after the turbulent conclusion of his tenure at Manchester United. The well-known manager was still thought to be a top-notch coach who could put an end to the Lilywhites’ trophy drought, though.
That didn’t happen since the Spurs were unable to get rid of their typical weaknesses while he was in charge. In 86 games while coaching the team from north London, he recorded 45 victories.
