Arsene Wenger says that the European Championships and World Cup should be held every other year instead and he also called for the scrapping of the UEFA Nations League.
“We need to get rid of the Nations League and find clearer events that everyone understands,” quotes Wegner Standard.co.uk.
“If you ask people on the streets what the League of Nations is, you won’t find many people who can describe it.”
“There are a few activities we need to have as possible. For the modern world, one World Cup and one European Championship every other year will possibly be more suitable.”
“I often tell people who say this that the image is not related to the time you wait before playing again, but rather the consistency of the game, when asked whether playing more often in the World Cup would result in the tournament losing its unique value,” he added.
“People still watch the Champions League every year, after all. Personally, it will be a huge move forward, I guess.”
