Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has announced that he will leave the club at the end of the current season, the club confirmed the news. The 47-year-old has spent the last four years of his life in the Midlands.
Since securing promotion back to the English Premier League in 2018 Santo has managed to keep the club’s top-flight status. Santo and his Wolverhampton Wanderers have struggled to regain their place among the league’s best after a disappointing season, which has been exacerbated by the fact that star striker Raul Jimenez has been ruled out due to injury.
Wolves thanked Nuno on Instagram for four years of his amazing coaching and announced that he would leave the club on Sunday. The club wrote: “After four seasons at the club, this Sunday will be Nuno Espirito Santo’s final game in charge of Wolves. Thank you, Nuno.”
This was reposted by Premier League’s Instagram official handle and the league made the news available to its fans. “Nuno to leave Wolves after the match against Man Utd” Wolves will face Manchester United in the last Premier League match of the 2021 season.
In another post, Wolves mentioned the return of fans to stadiums quoting Santo’s statement “Sunday will be a very emotional day, but I am so happy that the fans will be back in Molineux and we can share one last special moment together, as one pack.”
Despite the fact that their season has not been their finest, fans will be left stunned after the club announced that their manager will step down from his duties on Sunday.
Nuno arrived in the Midlands in May 2017 signing a three-year deal after Porto sacked him for a trophy-less season. He extended his contract until June 2021. Santos had an amazing start at Wolves as in his first season at Molineux, he won the Championship title with two games to spare leading the club back to the Premier League after a six-year absence
