Following the Brazilian’s allegation of racism against the defender, after he was sent off in Paris Saint-Germain’s defeat to Marseille earlier this month, Neymar and Alvaro Gonzalez will not face any further punishment.
“After reviewing the event, hearing the players and members of the clubs, the Commission observes that it does not have sufficient compelling facts to allow it to determine the materiality of Alvaro Gonzalez’s discriminatory statements against Neymar at the meeting, or against Neymar towards Alvaro Gonzalez,” The LFP Disciplinary Commission said in a statement.
Marseille added: “Olympique de Marseille is pleased with the disciplinary committee’s verdict. Alvaro Gonzalez is not racist, and there are unjust and unfounded accusations against him on this topic. Olympique de Marseille is the anti-racism club, and will remain so.”
