The match comes to a close with Leicester coming out winners, in the end, to seal their first victory of 2022.
The Foxes were the better side throughout, but it wasn’t until the introduction of James Maddison and Jamie Vardy from the bench that their promise finally came to fruition.
Vardy set up Maddison’s opener before nodding in his own goal just minutes later.
As a result, Leicester’s quality shone through in the end to beat a Burnley side who never looked like scoring.

Goals:
Leicester breaks the deadlock. A long ball forward sees Schmeichel only get to the ball ahead of Rodriguez, and his clearance finds Vardy in space. Maddison is with him, and he drives forward before curling a left-footed shot right into the bottom-left corner to make it 1-0 to Leicester. What a finish, and what an impact from the substitute.
Leicester makes it two!!! Barnes gets into space down the left and lofts the ball across the face of the goal, and Vardy’s deft header meets that cross, flying past Pope and into the net to make it 2-0 to the Foxes.
So, where else do Leicester and Burnley go from here?
Leicester’s maiden victory of 2022 lifts them to 12th in the table, nine points above Burnley in the relegation spot.
The Clarets may have lost this game and are firmly in the fight, but they still have games in hand over several sides above and below them, giving Sean Dyche’s side hope that survival is still a real possibility.
