The Indian football team has improved a lot in the last few years. The team’s effort has been to continuously do better in the world rankings. Team coach Igor Stimac and captain Sunil Chhetri try in every way to provide training to the players with the motivation to do better. It is their first priority to get the team to play as many matches as possible. Under this, the Indian team has to play two matches against Nepal.
The head coach of the Indian football team, Igor Stimac, is very happy with the recent performance of the team. The coach expressed satisfaction over the performance of the national team (India XI) in an exhibition match against IFA XI on Monday. He said that he favors regular practice matches to improve his team’s performance. The Indian team is scheduled to play two international friendly matches against Nepal in September.
The men’s team’s preparatory camp began in Kolkata on Sunday for the friendly match against Nepal, featuring 23 short-listed players. Players competing in the ongoing AFC Cup in the Maldives will join the camp after the tournament is over. “I am really happy and grateful with the organization of this game and we will do our best to have a game like this. We want to play more and more,” Stimac said.
This is the first time in 15 years that a national camp is being organized in Kolkata. The last time it was held was in 2006 before a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia. The Indian team is scheduled to travel to Kathmandu later this month and play two international friendly matches against Nepal in September.
