Antonio Conte says in their 5-0 domination Inter ‘made Shakhtar Donetsk look average’ and want to ‘impress’ against Sevilla in the Europa League Final.
“I think we got to the Final playing against a team that we made look less powerful than it was, but Shakhtar has a lot of talent and we stopped them playing all over the pitch with the pressing,” Conte told Sky Sport Italia.
“They’ve got a lot of consistency in their passing, but we’ve done well to drive them into defending, something we know they’re not as confident with as carrying the ball.”
“We played courageously, had the right plan, played in the right way a very European game and the players deserve all the credit. It was a superb performance and we made Shakhtar look average.”
To reach the Europa League / UEFA Cup Final, Inter become the first Italian team since Parma in 1999, but they will be up against serial champions Sevilla.
“Sevilla has a lot of experience, I think in the last six or seven years they have won it four times. We do have enthusiasm, hunger, and the desire to amaze people, though.”
“We need to rest now, recover, and try to give some joy to the Inter fans, who I think are going to be proud of these lads because they give their heart and soul.”
“We have to leave the field with no regrets as I have always said. We have to know we have given our all, done everything we could possibly do, so if we lose, it’s because the opponents were better.”
