Chelsea is in talks with Bayern for a potential move. Real Madrid vs. Chelsea FC, second leg of the quarterfinal UEFA Champions League match. Sadio Mane, a former Liverpool superstar, is allegedly close to joining Chelsea before the summer transfer season.
The first round of negotiations between Chelsea and Bayern Munich on a prospective transfer has already taken place, according to Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida on Twitter. Mane left Liverpool last summer after six productive seasons there to join the German powerhouses.
The Senegal international’s time in Germany hasn’t been without controversy, though. He was already having trouble with his form when he got into a violent argument with teammate Leroy Sane.
After Bayern’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, Mane struck the Germany international in the face. Ultimately, he received a £350,000 fine and a one-match suspension for the incident.
The 2019–20 Premier League champion has 36 games this season in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and dishing out five assists. At the completion of the current campaign, he will still have two years remaining on his contract with the Allianz Arena.
Given that he will provide Chelsea’s inexperienced frontline with some much-needed experience, his signing could be advantageous. The 31-year-old is capable of playing anywhere up front but recently has mostly been used as a center-forward, which is a noteworthy area of weakness for the Blues.
Pierre-Emerick Romelu Lukaku’s future at Chelsea is uncertain, while Aubameyang has stated his desire to rejoin Barcelona. Mane has extensive playing experience in England. In 263 Premier League games over the course of his career, he has 111 goals and 47 assists.
Mason Mount of Chelsea should be avoided by Liverpool, according to a pundit:
In recent months, Mason Mount has been frequently mentioned in connection with a move to Liverpool. However, commentator Gabriel Agbonlahor urges the Reds not to sign the 24-year-old.
Former Aston Villa striker, as quoted by Liverpool Echo, on TalkSPORT: “Let’s be honest, 27 goals in 129 games isn’t exactly spectacular, is it? According to the statistics, he is not [a terrific player]. He’s a passable player but isn’t performing particularly well. Mason Mount should be scoring goals because he is an attacking midfielder. Neither does he. Odegaard scored 14 goals in a single campaign.”
Mount’s current Chelsea contract expires at the end of the next season, and it has not yet been renewed. Since his breakthrough 2019–20, season under Frank Lampard, the England international has been a crucial member of the Blues.
Since joining Chelsea in 2005, Mount has made 195 senior games and has tallied 33 goals and 37 assists. He just underwent surgery to correct a pelvic condition, and as a result, was recently declared out for the season.
