Liverpool’s defender is now on Real Madrid’s list. The La Liga powerhouses want to improve their defensive options in time for the 2023–23 season, and Robertson is the ideal candidate for their team. However, the Daily Mail reported that they would need to spend almost £40 million to get his signature.
Real Madrid will probably be looking for a new left-back as the club expects Ferland Mendy to leave shortly due to his history of injuries. Robertson is one of the few players that may be compared favorably to Mendy in their effort to replace the Frenchman.
Robertson, who Liverpool paid £8 million to recruit from Hull City in 2017, has since made a name for himself as one of Europe’s top left-backs. He has made 267 appearances with the Reds during his six-year tenure, tallying eight goals and 63 assists while also taking home the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup.
Robertson participated in 43 games this season in all competitions, contributing 11 assists.
After playing against the 28-year-old three years in a row in the Champions League, Real Madrid has closely examined his skills. Even though Robertson still has three years left on his Liverpool deal, Los Blancos may convince him to embark on a new journey.
Robertson was praised by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as the top left-back in Europe last season, saying on the club’s website: “For me, Robertson is without a doubt the best. Outstanding player, and once more, it’s the combination of his mentality and skill set that sets him apart.”
Real Madrid wants to acquire Kyle Walker to bolster their defense:
According to reports, Real Madrid is interested in signing Kyle Walker from Manchester City to bolster the right-back position.
Real Madrid’s first-choice right-back is still Dani Carvajal, but when the transfer market opens, the team wants to improve.
According to Spanish journalist Tomás González-Martn, Walker is viewed by La Liga’s top teams as a player who might help strengthen their defense.
Walker has played 250 games for Manchester City since signing with them in 2017 for £45 million, scoring six goals and accumulating 18 assists.
