Barcelona confirms Jordi Cruyff will leave next month. Champions of Spain’s La Liga, Barcelona, have announced that Jordi Cruyff would depart on June 30 when his contract expires.
After Mateu Alemany, Barca, who won their 27th La Liga championship this season, is expected to lose more important players this summer. As part of Joan Laporta’s administrative restructuring, Jordi, the renowned Johan Cruyff’s son, joined Barcelona as their sporting director in September 2021.
The 49-year-old, who played for the Blaugrana as well, has performed admirably at Camp Nou since being hired. Cryuff helped the Blaugrana through difficult times by working closely with club president Joan Laporta, director of football Mateu Alemany, and manager Xavi Hernandez.
On June 30, Cruyff’s contract with the team will expire, and it was thought that he might quit at the end of the current campaign. Now that the Dutchman is going, the Blaugrana have acknowledged it on their website, stating: “Jordi Cruyff, the sports director of FC Barcelona, has decided not to extend his contract with the team after this season because he wants to start new professional endeavors.”
“This is what he told the organization’s president, Joan Laporta, this morning during a tearful meeting in which Cruyff explained his decision to leave Barca after two seasons to seek out new challenges. The team extends its gratitude to Jordi Cruyff for his significant contribution as a Sports Commission member and wishes him luck on his new career path.”
This summer, with Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cryuff expected to go, Barcelona will have large shoes to fill. As Alemany appears to be moving to Aston Villa, Deco is being mentioned as a potential successor for Alemany’s director of football position.

Lewandowski, who cost Bayern Munich €40 million last summer, has excelled since joining the Blaugrana. The 34-year-old has played 42 games for the Blaugrana across competitions, contributing significantly to their La Liga victory with 31 goals and seven assists.
