To find an individual who sent racial abuse to player David McGoldrick, Sheffield United will work with the police.
The 32-year-old Irish forward was targeted via Instagram Direct Messaging, after scoring twice in his side’s 3-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League.
A screenshot of the message with the “2020 and this is life” title was shared by McGoldrick and the Blades insist these actions can’t occur.
“We will be supporting David McGoldrick as a club, and will do everything we can to find the perpetrator of this disgusting message.” the club posted on Twitter.
“We must collaborate with the authorities involved to ensure that the individual behind the post is brought to justice.”
“This can’t continue. There is something that needs to change.”
