Following Bruno’s transfer to Manchester United, his value may have been dropped to as low as £18 m, reported Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas.
When he joined the Red Devils in a £57 m January deal, he terminated a delighted transfer saga, and in total nine outings in all competition, the player loved a promising start to life at the club by scoring Three goals and four assists.
Varandas believes that Sporting may only receive around €20 m (£17.7 m) for Fernandes if it is sold now because the players’ value has been slashed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Varandas told RTP “The crisis caused by Covid-19 harms the European football industry in general, but, of all countries, Portugal is the most affected, because 50% of revenues come from the sale of players,”
“Bruno Fernandes, for example? He was sold for €65m in January. Today, what would he be worth? Maybe €20m? €30m? Nobody knows.”
Fernandes has yet to taste defeat in the United Shirt as he won the Premier League Player of the Month award in February.
