Next week after the contract ends nine of its academy stars will be released, Manchester United has announced.
Nine players who will not receive new terms and they will all leave the team as their contracts expire on June 30 are Demetri Mitchell, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Ethan Hamilton, Dion McGhee, Largie Ramazani, George Tanner, Aidan Barlow, Kieran O’Hara, and Alex Fojticek.
Academy Head Nick Cox said: “With some of the younger pros that are finishing their contracts, we are putting in place packages so that when the season resumes they will come back for a few months with some financial support and a training program to help them with their next career stage.”
“We agreed not to release all of the under-9 boys into the under-18s. The number one priority was to get them back with smiles on their faces and at another time we will be dealing with those decisions. We have a responsibility to assist them during this tough period.”
