After beating Juventus 4-2 in a better penalty shootout in front of the empty stands of the Olimpico stadium in Rome, Napoli won the Italian Cup for the sixth time in its history.
The winner was resolved with shots from the white spot because the match ended without goals after 90 minutes.
At Juventus, the first two performers were inaccurate. While Danilo shot over the goal, Paulo Dybala’s shot was saved by Alex Meret. Lorenzo Insigne on the other hand, Matteo Politano was precise, so Napoli took the lead with 2-0.
Nikola Maksimovic and Arkadiusz Milik were precise for Napoli and the great celebration of “Partenope” thus Leonardo Bonucci and Aaron Ramsey Juve’s score was not enough.
Between these teams, the only previous Coppa Italia final was in 2012, and Napoli won 2-0 thanks to goals from Edinson Cavani and Marek Hamsik.
While Juve suffered its sixth defeat in the 19th final, remaining in a record 13 titles, this is Napoli’s sixth Cup title in the tenth final.
After the Cup, Serie A continues, and the first games are scheduled for this Saturday.
Juventus leads the table with one point more than Lazio.
