Shkodran Mustafi congratulated the Spaniard for uniting the Gunners, with Mesut Ozil amongst those buying into a modern way of thinking, and praised Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta as a “professor”
The north London giants find themselves going backward, after an inconsistent start to the 2019-20 season.
A fellow countryman was named in his place until the decision to part with his services had been made.
Mustafi also indicated the Gunners have a better future lies in store.
The German defender told his boss to Sky Sports: “He’s kind of a professor.”
“He understands where he needs the players to be when they are on the pitch, and how to respond when they lose the match.”
“When I pass I usually just think of where to go if we drop the ball but he needs me to make an offensive effort too. So we must always give a choice on the ball to the player.”
“When you are 28 years old and you compete for other coaches in other countries you believe you know everything but then he comes in and there are things I never learned before.”
