It has been speculated that Belgian winger Dries Mertens will leave the club at the end of the season yet he is set to sign a new two-year deal with Napoli.
Mertens has scored 121 goals in 309 appearances staying at Napoli for seven years. He and Marek Hamšik share the first place as the best scorers in the history of the club.
Italian media reported, the new contract will bring him a salary of four million euros per season, and a bonus of two and a half million to extend loyalty to the club.
Chelsea, Inter, and Roma were interested in the 33-year-old as his contract expired this summer and he was expected to leave Napoli.
