After scoring in the Real Madrid game against Eibar on Sunday, Marcelo was the latest footballer to ‘take a knee’ in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.
In Madrid’s first game back in La Liga, Marcelo scored at the 37th minute and decided to mark his shot by kneeling with one fist raised with respect to the movement.
Appearing in a black shirt alongside Gianluigi Buffon, Rio Ferdinand, Gerard Pique and 40 former and current football stars the left-back had entered FIFA’s Avoid Bigotry, Violence, and Discrimination campaign with a request to stop such incidents.
