Real Madrid left-back Marcelo is set to miss out with an adductor injury on the rest of Los Blancos’ LaLiga campaign.
Zinedine Zidane’s side received all three points in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Athletic Club, as the Brazilian won the penalty, but also picked up an injury that will rule him out for the rest of the domestic season.
“Following the tests conducted by Real Madrid Medical Services on Marcelo today, he was diagnosed with an injury to his left adductor muscle,” Real Madrid confirmed before the clash with Alaves on Friday.
“We will continue to assess his recovery.”
Before playing three more matches over the next eight days, Marcelo isn’t expected to be back in LaLiga action this term, with Real hosting Alaves on Friday.
However, when Zidane’s side is traveling to Manchester City for the last-16 second-leg match of the teams and looking to seal a spot in the last eight against either Lyon or Juventus, he should be available again in early August for the Champions League.
