According to reports from The Times, in the summer transfer window Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is looking at rebuilding the squad.
He believes Manchester City needs to invest in the squad and bring players the right profile if they want to win back the title from Liverpool next season.
The Spaniard is meeting with the City board to discuss which players should leave the club, claims the report. Guardiola feels it’s a necessity to sign a central defender after City fell 23 points behind Jürgen Klopp’s side.
While the club is listening to offers for John Stones, City is interested in unloading Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi.
In 2016 for a reported £47.5 m fee, the 26-year-old defender joined Everton with City. back then he was the second most expensive defender in the world.
In all competitions, Stones has made more than 125 appearances for City and won two titles in the Premier League.
Stones has made only 12 appearances in the Premier League this season and Guardiola is looking to unload it.
