Manchester City in the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder. Liverpool will suffer a setback if Premier League rival Manchester City enters the contest to recruit Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich. The Cityzens are preparing a move for the Dutch international after missing out on Jude Bellingham, according to The Mirror.
In recent months, Bellingham has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe, drawing interest from both Liverpool and Manchester City. Gravenberch, on the other hand, is expected to be sought by Pep Guardiola, according to The Mirror, as the England international appears headed for a move to Real Madrid.
The representatives of the Bayern Munich midfielder were contacted by Jurgen Klopp’s team about a potential summer transfer, according to a report in The Mirror from last month. In a transaction of €18 million, Gravenberch switched from his childhood club Ajax to Bayern Munich last summer. He has, however, had trouble cracking the Bavarian giants’ starting lineup.
This season, the young Dutchman has played for Bayern Munich in 30 games in all competitions, although he has only started four of them. Gravenberch was thought of as the future of the Netherlands midfield and one of the hottest talents in Europe before his departure to the Allianz Arena.
Despite having a challenging first season with Bayern Munich, interest in the former Eredivisie Talent of the Year and Johan Cruyff Trophy winner is high. Given the rumored departures of Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva as well as Kalvin Phillips’ underwhelming first season at the club, Manchester City may need to strengthen their midfield.
Liverpool has struggled in the midfield area and is in desperate need of adding quality to their ranks. James Milner is already poised to join Brighton & Hove Albion, and the Reds are resigned to losing Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner on free transfers.
Alexander-Arnold is open about the battle for the Premier League championship between Manchester City and Arsenal:
Right-back for Liverpool Trent Alexander-Arnold believes Manchester City will defeat Arsenal and win the Premier League championship. The Gunners were in first place for the majority of the season, but a recent slump in form has seen them slip to second.
Alexander-Arnold, who has competed against Manchester City in several title campaigns, has backed the Cityzens to defeat Arsenal and win the championship. According to Liverpool Echo, he stated: “I’ve been saying it for a while, but the league is finally evident. It’s over if City gets even remotely close or smells blood around Christmas or New Year’s. Once they start winning, there’s no stopping them, and at this point, I’d be astonished if they drew a game.”
He added: “They don’t even trail in games anymore, so I believe it must be an attitude. There is no playing around, no fear, and no ups and downs. Arsenal was intriguing because they were losing games, but doing so in a fascinating way. City, on the other hand, is like—I don’t even know how to put it—juggernauts.”
Four of the last five Premier League championships have been won by Manchester City; the 2019–20 season was won by Liverpool.
