After notching them in Saturday night’s 3-0 victory over Watford, Ross Barkley has cemented his role in the thoughts of Frank Lampard and is rewarding Chelsea and his boss with goals and contributions.
“I don’t believe it’s a new level for Ross. I’ve been competing for and against England with him. He’s got fantastic consistency and I understood that. I think he’s playing a really good role.” Lampard told reporters on Zoom at Stamford Bridge.
“His work rate, running, jumping forward from midfield areas to protect at times. With his technical skills, he naturally still has the technical qualities: right and left foot, major strikes. I saw that and Ross was absolutely committed to the cause.”
“Barkley and Mount have been crucial against Watford, I guess that’s just going to be the case. I know when you pick up the team, you look at the opponents because you know they like to fight in big quantities because they’re a counter-attacking challenge so it’s our job to break them down.”
