Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that during Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Everton, his half-time substitution of Takumi Minamino was completely planned.
He said to Sky Sports: “I had the idea before the game that I wanted to change really early, and not to wait before everyone had a little less than fresh legs.”
“It was just to take advantage of the opportunity that five changes give you. But Taki did well, he was in the play.”
“It was a little complicated at the beginning, but then he was in the game. The sub didn’t have much to do with Taki’s performance, it was just my idea to try it.”
