“The fire inside me is always burning. It’s like I relive my childhood”, told Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
On Saturday as Juve meets Torino in the Derby Della Mole, Buffon is expected to become the record holder of Serie A presence and he has recently renewed his deal for another year.
“I still have the fire burning inside me.” the 41-year-old said on Instagram to Randstad Italia (via Football Italia).
“I continue to play because I feel good and I’m competitive, and I always want to improve.”
“The moment I was a No 1, the passion became work, a commitment not to look bad and to stay at the peak.”
“I set the fun aside for 15 years. It’s as if I’m reviving my childhood now as an ‘oldie.’ It is my key about how I will move on.”
“I’ve celebrated small wins over the last 12 years of my life, and learned a lot about the losses.”
“It seems easy when you’re used to winning. The wins have a small effect on you in that way but the pain of failing persists.”
“With this, I have to seek to make peace, or I risk never leaving.”
