For the rest of the season, Liverpool defender Joel Matip has been ruled out with a foot injury.
In the goalless draw of the newly-crowned champions at Everton, their first match since the resumption of the Premier League, the 28-year-old was injured on June 21.
When the Reds thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 Matip
was missing last week and now he’s set to miss their remaining seven games.
Matip told the website of the club, Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m not going to be back on the field this season but, for next season, I think I’m going to be a big support to the team – very early on.”
Since the title was secured at Etihad Stadium on Thursday, Liverpool faces Manchester City in their first match.
