Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi was under suspicion of rape after the reported incident at his apartment in west London, for which he was arrested.
Both police and the London ambulance service were alerted to a complaint from a woman in the early hours on May 17, read a tweet by Metropolitan Police.
The statement added: “While medical personnel were in attendance, a woman confirmed being raped. She was taken to hospital. A man was arrested on suspicion of rape. He was freed from jail and bailed for return in mid-June on a date. Investigation proceeds.”
Hudson-Odoi was infected with coronavirus on March 12 and Sunday’s alleged incident comes just weeks after he battled the virus.
