Against Freiburg on Friday, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz set a new Bundesliga record with his match-winning goal.
After flicking the ball onto Leon Bailey the 20-year-old rushed forward to catch the return pass and slotted past Freiburg goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow to round off an outstanding team move.
Since his 2016 debut, the goal is Havertz’s 35th in the Bundesliga and he’s the first player to hit that tally before he was 21 years old. He is also closing in on the top ten scorers of all time at Leverkusen.
In the top five leagues in Europe, he has been the most successful player scoring nine goals and assisting four times, during this calendar year.
