Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne were requested by Sven-Goran Eriksson to stay in Manchester City and withstand Real Madrid’s temptation.
“Well, if they want to do it, they’re going to play for Real Madrid but I’d be disappointed,” Eriksson told Stats Perform News.
“I don’t know I really hope they’re staying in England. Looking at it so far and the Premier League is the best league in the world for several years now, no question about it-the most famous, the best league to see.”
“Other leagues are good, but how many people look at Spanish football if it’s not Barcelona or Real Madrid, maybe the Madrid Atletico? I don’t think there are many.”
“Bundesliga, it’s a bit the same if Borussia Dortmund doesn’t play, if Bayern Munich doesn’t play, are you watching it? It’s different in England because any team can beat any other team. It’s great football and it’s always a fight, a good fight in England.”
“It would be a huge setback for City to lose Sterling, De Bruyne, or both on the pitch.”
