After confidential talks, Borussia Dortmund and goalkeeper Roman Bürki have consented to a premature prolongation of the agreement. Bürki ‘s contract will now run until 30 June 2023 for another two years, which was set to expire in 2021.
“We are delighted that we will continue to have one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Bundesliga between the sticks in Roman Bürki. That means we have secured an excellent player for an important long-term position. It speaks volumes for Roman that he has already kept 12 clean sheets this season,” sporting director Michael Zorc declared.
Since Roman Bürki came from fellow Bundesliga outfit SC Freiburg to Dortmund, in the summer of 2015 Swiss shot-stopper he has made 206 competitive appearances and maintained 75 clean sheets for BVB.
“I am very happy at Borussia Dortmund and feel the confidence placed in me by the management of the club, the coach, and my fellow players,” said the 29-year-old.
