For the final matches of the elongated season, Dean Henderson is expected to stay on loan from Manchester United at Sheffield United, with the goalkeeper deciding to do so having in principle been agreed by the clubs.
According to The Guardian, Some specifics still need to be ironed out, but it is expected to be completed before June 23 – the deadline for clubs to extend the contract players whose deals expire on June 30th.
The former had the option of recalling Henderson at the end of the month, which means he wouldn’t have played for his loan club in their seven Premier League matches in July when the season is expected to end, thus Manchester United’s blessing would come as a relief to Sheffield United.
With Manchester United finishing fourth, two points ahead of Sheffield United, who has a game in hand, the clubs are vying for promotion in the Champions League. Fifth place would suffice to qualify if next month’s court of arbitration for sport upholds Manchester City’s ban from the competition.
This time Henderson was outstanding for them, earning senior England recognition, whereas last season he was on loan at Bramall Lane when he helped Sheffield United to get automatic promotion from the Championship. The 23-year-old was a member of the new foreign squads in October and November. Under the terms of his loan, Henderson won’t play against Manchester United at Old Trafford Wednesday week.
