Christian Pulisic joined Chelsea in 2019 and admits that it was a good turning point, with the U.S. player having always tried to test himself in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old saw a transfer door open after showing his value at Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
In recent years Pulisic made impressive progress for club and country, having broken through in Germany under Jurgen Klopp.
Pulisic jumped at the opportunity to move for Stamford Bridge, even though he had received plenty of offers to consider before leaving Dortmund.
Speaking to BT Sport about his career path, the USMNT star said: “I always wanted to play in Europe.”
“For me, it was certainly a great first move to go to Dortmund. It was fantastic, and I learned so much. I grew up there when I was 15, I moved over there.”
“Being here now and moving to the Premier League when I was 20 I think it all worked really well and I’m very pleased with the road.”
“I was optimistic and feeling like I had a strong few years in the Bundesliga, so naturally with the opportunity to come to a team like Chelsea – it was really something I couldn’t turn down.”
“I really feel like the time was totally correct and I’m just glad I made the decision.”
