Chelsea is on the verge of signing RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, beating Inter, Juventus, and Liverpool says the German newspaper Bild.
It’s a matter of who’s able to deliver the best sporting and personal terms, as the 24-year-old striker has a €60 m release clause in his deal.
Liverpool had been the favorites for weeks, but they seem unwilling to pay for the full release clause.
Inter then emerged as a contender, but only if Lautaro Martinez moved to Barcelona, whereas Juventus appears to have Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli as their first choice.
It has apparently allowed Chelsea to dive in with Werner ‘s winning proposal.
He’s able to settle on a five-year pay package worth more than €10 m a year, says Bild.
The German center-forward made appearances in 30 competitive games for RB Leipzig scoring 31 goals along with 12 assists this season.
