Lautaro Martinez is not for sale and that Barcelona needs to pay the €111 million (£97m/$121 m) release fee for the Argentinean if they really want to sign him, declared Inter sports director Piero Ausilio.
“As long as Martinez is concerned, there is only one way that he can leave Inter and that is by charging for his contract,” Ausilio told Sky Italia.
“A contract that everybody understands – there’s no point in lying – is strict, as it has both timelines and promises that need to be held very specific.”
“There is a provision that ends in early July and it does not last long. So it’s the only chance that remains today to keep Lautaro off Inter.”
“He is an essential club property and let’s not forget he still has a three-year deal with Inter,” said Ausilio.
“Inter do not sell their most valuable stars. They plan to keep them and eventually improve in the transfer market, and this also relates to Lautaro.”
“Several clubs have approached us to discuss Lautaro. The most dedicated one of these is Barcelona, with whom we have a good and cordial friendship. I don’t deny this.”
“And I think Barcelona well knows what our goals are. Inter have no intention to sell Lautaro Martinez. Then, I repeat there is a clause.”
