Manuel Almunia has trust in his head coach Mikel Arteta, also the football club Arsenal is all set to complete the top four.
“If Mikel Arteta gets time at the club he can get Arsenal back ‘among the best again’ ” – says Manuel Almunia.
Coronavirus pandemic affected the Premier League which resulted in a halt of fixtures when the Gunners were about to finish a fourth successive season outside the top four.
Arteta won the FA Cup twice in December, took over 10th-place in the squad at the table, returns to Emirates Stadium where he had spent his last 5 seasons of his playing career.
When Olympiacos knocked Arsenal out of the Europa League, they found themselves 8 points behind whereas Chelsea was placed fourth when the league campaign was stopped.
Evening Standard reports say that Almunia is backing his fellow Spaniard for his former club to be a long term success.
“With Arsenal as the big club they are, it’s a shame to see them like this,” said Marca to the ex-Arsenal goalkeeper, who is now a coach in the United Arab Emirates.
“They should be in the Champions League and higher up the league for the history, infrastructure, British and global fans and the attraction in general. Sooner or later, they’re going to be among the best again, and I’m sure Mikel’s going to help with that. He’s been a player not long ago.” – Says Marca
“He shared the dressing room with some of the players he’s coaching now, and he knows what modern football is like, and he’s going to know what’s best for them. He has to be given time.” he further added.
Arteta left his role to take up the top job at Arsenal on the staff of Pep Guardiola in Manchester City.
