Arsenal willing to pay £90 million in transfer fee. Declan Rice, a midfielder for West Ham United, would cost Arsenal more than their previous record for a club deal. The Gunners are contemplating a £90 million offer for the 24-year-old sensation, claims Dean Jones of GiveMeSport.
Rice’s asking price from West Ham is at least £100 million, but the North London club is sure they can agree to less. The French winger Nicolas Pepe, who Arsenal paid £72 million to acquire from Lille in 2019, holds the record for the most expensive move.
According to the report, together with Bukayo Saka, the midfielder is expected to receive the highest salary on the team. The winger is about to agree to an extension that will increase his weekly salary to £300,000.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has made it known that the team wants to bring in a midfielder. In the January transfer window, they attempted to acquire Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion, but no deal was reached. As Granit Xhaka is planning to quit the team, strengthening the position becomes even more important.
Rice is reportedly quite interested in the transfer, according to Jones. He is thought to be enthusiastic to play for Arteta and to respect the club’s recent swift advancement.
Arsenal could get involved in a bidding battle, though, with teams like Chelsea and Manchester City also interested in the midfielder. Even though Manchester United is said to be interested, the report states that Arsenal is leading the talks.
After Arsenal’s defeat to Nottingham Forest, Mikel Arteta speaks out as Manchester City are crowned champions:
Arteta was upset with himself following his team’s defeat against Nottingham Forest. Mikel Arteta spoke to the media following Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, which made Manchester City the legitimate champions.
He said: “This is a very terrible day. We came up short. I commend Manchester City. They deserved to win because they are the champions. We created the illusion that we could accomplish it, but we were unable to, and I am sorry for that.”
He added: “We ought to have played much better today. We assigned them a task. We have not had 24 guys performing at their best, being confident, and ready to go when April and May roll around for a variety of reasons.”
Then, on Sunday, May 21, Pep Guardiola’s team defeated Chelsea 1-0 to win their third straight and fifth overall Premier League championship.
