Al-Hilal offers PSG star a contract worth €60m per year. French journalist Abdellah Boulma claims that Al-Hilal is interested in signing PSG superstar Marco Verratti to a record-breaking contract worth €60 million annually. Verratti has recently been mentioned in connection with a transfer away from the Parisian club.
The midfielder from Italy joined the team in 2012. He has played 412 times for the French powerhouses, making 61 assists and scoring 11 goals.
Verratti has played 34 times for Christophe Galtier’s club this year and has contributed one assist. For more than ten years, he has played an important role in PSG’s midfield.
However, there have been reports that the Italian could look to leave in the summer. Verratti’s future is uncertain despite having a contract with PSG through the end of the 2025–26 season.
The player’s gross salary with the Parisian club is currently close to €15 million (Capology). The Italian might find it difficult to refuse Al-Hilal’s offer of over €60 million.
Lionel Messi’s father refuted that the PSG superstar has decided to join Al-Hilal:
Lionel Messi is currently in the last month of his contract with PSG and hasn’t yet signed an extension. According to Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, the Argentinean will depart the Parisians after the current campaign.
The seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or has reportedly already decided to sign with Al-Hilal of the Saudi Pro League. But Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, denied them in a statement (h/t Fabrizio Romano) and said: Absolutely NOTHING has been decided with any club for the next season. We won’t do anything now — and we will determine at the end of the current season… I can promise that Paris Saint-Germain will never decide before the end of the current season.”
He added: “Leo Messi’s name is always mentioned around — but we can promise that there’s NOTHING signed, agreed or even orally agreed and it won’t happen today… Why don’t people check their news? It’s full of fake news, with no evidence to back up what these “media” claim in public to fabricate stories and with no regard.”
While Messi has not officially renewed his contract, there have been rumors that PSG is eager to extend Messi’s stay in the French city through the end of the current campaign.
