Rio Ferdinand on Phil Foden winning fifth league title. Rio Ferdinand has cynically remarked that it would be “a disgrace” if Phil Foden, who is only 23 years old, were to win his fifth Premier League championship. The former star of Manchester United has predicted that the Englishman will eventually make it into the Hall of Fame.
Along with Ferdinand, this year’s new inductees into the Premier League Hall of Fame include Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, and Petr Cech. Ferdinand was questioned about which members of the current roster should be inducted into the Hall of Fame after the event. Before mentioning Foden, he mentioned Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Kevin De Bruyne.
According to Metro, Rio Ferdinand stated: “The first name that comes up is Kevin De Bruyne. When asked about contemporary players entering the Hall of Fame last night, Arsene Wenger highlighted him, and I concur. Mohamed Salah will likely make it in, in my opinion. Robert Haaland After just one season, he is capable of entering.”
“Haaland could comfortably jump in there right now. Who is a young player who I believe will make the team? Foden, Phil. Did you know that Foden would have five championships under his belt at the end of the current campaign if Man City won the Premier League? He is 23 years of age! It’s a complete and total shame.”
With five games remaining, Manchester City is a point behind Arsenal but has a game in hand.
Rio Ferdinand speaks on the Premier League championship:
Rio Ferdinand was asked which Premier League championship he preferred. The Englishman claimed that it was Sir Alex Ferguson’s final victory. He was cited as stating on the website of Manchester United: “The final one with Sir Alex since it was also his final one and it was such a significant occasion. The reason why the title meant the most to me was because many people had questioned me before that season.”
“There were rumors that I may join Spurs, and I was also suffering from numerous ailments at the time. I participated in a number of games over that following season. We won the league, and I was named to the Premier League Team of the Season that year.”
Manchester United hasn’t won a championship in a decade and it remains their last-ever triumph.
