Jamie Carragher praises Liverpool star. Jamie Carragher, a former player for Liverpool, was thrilled with Mohamed Salah’s performance against Leicester City on Monday, May 15. The winger from Egypt contributed three assists to the 3-0 victory at King Power Stadium.
The Reds easily defeated the relegation-threatened Foxes thanks to a brace from Curtis Jones (at 33′ and 36′) and a goal from Trent Alexander-Arnold. Salah was the one who set up all three goals, despite not scoring any of them himself.
Carragher was ecstatic about Salah’s performance. “You talk about Salah again, he’s heavily involved, you talk about Liverpool, and we might get into it a little bit more about this new set-up,” he said in a statement to Sky Sports. “To properly advance, you need five aggressive players, and Curtis Jones has benefited greatly from this approach.”
The former defender continued: “But Mo Salah made a beautiful pass there, I mean it. He is currently in the best shape of his life. He’s in the best shape of his life, despite the possibility that it won’t happen for him this season.”
The Reds have had a poor season after narrowly missing out on winning the Premier League the previous season. They are currently attempting valiantly to finish in the top four after being eliminated early from all three cup events.
Salah has however maintained his performance metrics. In 49 games across all competitions this season, he has 30 goals and 14 assists.
By the numbers: Mohamed Salah’s matchup with Leicester City for Liverpool:
Mohamed Salah contributed a hat-trick of assists before being replaced in the 88th minute. He managed to complete 30 passes while also managing one shot on the Leicester goal.
Against the Foxes, Salah made four crucial passes and one major chance creation. The Egyptian winger, according to Squawka, became just the fourth player to have at least 10 goals and 10 assists in four different Premier League seasons.
Liverpool, meanwhile, holds onto fifth place despite the victory. They have 36 games under their belt and 65 points, but they are still one point behind Manchester United and Newcastle United. They have, however, played one more game than each of the two groups holding the final two Champions League positions.
