Arsenal is soon to sign two key players. According to Metro, contract talks between Premier League powerhouse Arsenal and two of their first-team talents, Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale, have progressed.
After months of contract negotiations with the club, both players are reportedly close to extending their stay at the Emirates. According to reports, Arsenal wants to keep Saka and Ramsdale for a longer time because they see them as essential to their future.
The pair has played an important role in Mikel Arteta’s squad, which has mostly enjoyed a successful 2022–23 football season that has been beyond most people’s expectations. The Gunners were poised to win the Premier League this season after spending most of the 2022–23 league season atop the standings.
Their chances of capturing what could have been a historic league championship, though, appear to have been destroyed by a late comeback from defending champions Manchester City. With four games remaining, Arsenal is presently four points behind league leaders City. A mistake by the Citizens would be necessary for Arsenal to win the title.
The Gunners, however, appear to be thinking ahead and are prepared to sign some of their important players to lengthier terms. The 21-year-old winger Gabriel Martinelli’s contract with the North London club was recently extended, and he is now likely to stay there till the end of 2027.
Martinelli’s contract renewal appears to be the first of many similar agreements. Recall that the team’s head coach, Arteta, made a hint in March that the club was interested in keeping its finest players. He said this: “We are working to extend the contracts of our top players at the club and lock them in for the long term as part of the plan. The good news is that Gabby was the first.”
Saka and Ramsdale are reportedly close to extending their existing contracts with the club. Saka’s current contract with the club is anticipated to end in the summer of 2024, but the Gunners are eager to keep one of their greatest assets for a longer period of time, with a five-year deal reportedly on the table.
While Ramsdale is currently under contract with the team through 2025, the Gunners are keen to sign him to a lengthier agreement.
